Specialty Coatings
Canadian Maritime Engineering Ltd. is very pleased to announce some recent qualification upgrades at our Paint and Coatings division in Woodside.
We now have expert personnel with both NACE (National association of Corrosion Engineers) 1 and NACE (National association of Corrosion Engineers) 2 Qualifications.
Fastener Corrosion Protection
Through a special surface preparation and pre-treatment, fused powder coating can lie applied both thick enough to allow function and superior corrosion protection to larger threaded fasteners. Small and fine thread fasteners are cut or chased to functional clearance.
Equipment Coating Oven
Not all powder coatings go on as a powder. Dispersion coatings go on as a liquid spray. The delivery medium (usually low or zero volatile) flashes off to produce an even coating of microscopic plastic beads. Then in the curing oven with exact control of oven and surface temperature, the plastic alloy fuses into itself and into the prepared surface structure. Removed and cooled, the coating has fully developed its properties.
CME’s oven has wheeled loading racks so the next preloaded batch can be rapidly exchanged for best throughput and minimal energy loss. Controls are simple and calibrated to read the critical part surface so coating process results are precise and consistent. Fusion is therefore fully developed and coating properties never get heat damaged.
Extreme Corrosion
For extreme corrosion chemicals, a barrel coating of Teflon will allow use of more affordable part materials. Powder coatings remain flexible, tough and do not peal or crack if the pact flexes.
Mold Release Coatings
Vacuum and plastic injection molds, and food grade non-stick food process surfaces can lie applied on any surface, even aluminum, bronze or FRP. Food grade powder coatings cannot peel or fall off and are FDA approved for food contacts. Bronze and aluminum is protected from caustic wash down.
